Residents can check a Chicago address for a lead service line

WBEZ mapped Chicago’s April 2025 inventory so a person can look up a confirmed or suspected lead line and ask the city for a free testing kit.

Federal rule required notice to about 900,000 people by Nov 2024. WBEZ reported ~7% sent by July 2025. The 2025 CCR later recorded a certification failure for 2024 service-line notices.
